The measured icons:
In ancient Russia «measured icons» were created to the day of christening a child. This tradition existed almost exclusively in the royal family. Icon’s height corresponded to growth («measure») of the newborn and depicted its patron saint. No more than 20 of these pre-revolutionary icons have been survived in museums. Nowadays in Russia this tradition was revived, lost its elite status and became popular.
